Oster Food Processor

Cooking can involve a lot of time cutting, chopping, dicing and performing other repetitive tasks. Food processors automate these repetitive tasks. They are almost always an electric motor driven kitchen appliance (yes, manuals ones do exist too).

Food processors are similar to blenders with some differences. Blenders usually have fixed blades, whereas food processors have interchangeable blades and cutting disk attachments that are used depending on the task at hand. Also, blenders tend to have high bowls whereas food processors have low and squat bowls. Blenders also almost always deal with liquids, but food processors usually deal with solid and semi solid foods.

For example, you can use a blender to make a puree, smoothie, or salad dressing, but a food processor would be more appropriate for cutting carrots thinly or chopping cabbage for Cole slaw or shredding cheese

There are a lot of different processors available, including various Oster Food Processor models and models from Conair, Cuisinart, Hamilton Beach, and Black and Decker.

For example, the Oster 3212 Inspire Food Processor is a very popular model.

It has a stainless steel base and is big enough to handle entire fruits and veggies, measuring 10” by 13” by 17”. It has a 10 cup capacity with 500 watts of power and mixes, chops, slices, blends, shreds, and much more.

All its components are dishwasher safe, including the reversible slicing and shredding discs, metal dough blade, storage case, and the gourmet French fry cutter. A minor point perhaps, but not everyone likes how it cuts French fries! It has a 1-year limited warranty.

It's reportedly a Consumer Reports "Best Buy" and Margaret from Kentucky says, "I love it." Click Here to read her full review and other reviews as well.

Oster also makes the much smaller and much cheaper (under US$20) Oster 3320 3-Cup Food Chopper. It's only 150 watts and it's quite light. It basically tries to accomplish the same functions as a full size food processor, and some people love its small size and convenience for small jobs. Reviews are very mixed so I suggest if you are considered this you first Click Here to Read the Mixed Reviews.

I obviously like Oster products and that include the Oster Food Processor.
